A three-afternoon training course to discover the value of reading picture books with older adults. In the Time of a Story, curated by Silvia Trentini. Through text analysis and shared experiences, we will explore how to select, introduce, and read picture books in an engaging, participatory way. The workshop aims to provide participants with the foundational tools to start their own reading experiences, discovering a new way to connect with loved ones or facility residents while sharing a moment of meaningful respite.
PROGRAM:
Thursday, December 11, 2025: Older age through images and words. The importance and use of language in picture books.
Tuesday, December 16, 2025: In-depth text analysis: how to select, introduce, and read books within residential care settings.
Thursday, January 15, 2026: Review of reading experiences and discussion on book selection.
Between the second and third sessions, participants will engage in an independent fieldwork phase (autonomous selection and initial reading sessions with family members or residents).
