A cultural project that brings together community, care, and participation.

The “G. Tartarotti” Civic Library, in collaboration with APSP Vannetti, presents a series of training sessions and meetings from December 2025 to May 2026 as part of the “Reading4Ageing” project. These activities are aimed at healthcare and social care staff, volunteers, caregivers, family members, occupational therapists, and anyone interested. The sessions will be led by psychologists, educators, and experts in elderly care practices. A certificate of attendance will be awarded, and Continuing Medical Education (ECM) credits will be available for selected dates. For multi-day courses, attendance is required for all scheduled dates.
Reading4Ageing is part of The Europe Challenge 2025/26, supported by Arts Council England, Fondazione Cariplo, and the Scottish Library and Information Council, with the involvement of the University of Trento, Social Services, and other community organizations.
Reading4Ageing offers older adults the opportunity to socialize, stimulate their memory, and build connections through books and group reading. It provides caregivers with training opportunities to acquire useful skills for relating to the elderly, using reading and books as key tools.
This innovative project adopts a cultural welfare approach to promote the health benefits of reading, supporting well-being from a bio-psycho-social perspective. It targets two main groups: the elderly population residing in the Municipality of Rovereto (direct beneficiaries) and the caregivers and socio-cultural professionals working with them (indirect beneficiaries).
The project places particular emphasis on the shared aloud reading, an approach that involves a guide who lends their voice and presence, takes responsibility for leading the reading and listening experience, and curates the bibliographical selections.
The training sessions are aimed at healthcare and social care professionals, volunteers working with older adults, family members, caregivers, occupational therapists, and anyone interested.
